EcoNexus
The EcoNexus™
The EcoNexus is a web-based data collecting, synthesizing and redistribution tool for connecting consumers with green products and service providers. It also serves to connect green-industry companies to one another and to consumers. Using the internet as a communication tool to change culture is not a new phenomenon. Companies and political campaigns are just now seeing the sizable and swift impact a well run website or virtual campaign can have.
The EcoNexus will be primarily driven by data gathered through a system of energy monitoring devices throughout the Big Green Building. Once collected, the raw data will then be synthesized into practical information and made available online. EcoNexus’s integrated online database will allow business owners, homeowners, and policy makers to make better eco-decisions for themselves, their businesses, and their families about the effectiveness of new green technologies. No other real-time database of this scope currently exists. EcoNexus will be another first for Philadelphia and for the state of Pennsylvania. EcoNexus is a resource and tool that goes well beyond being just another website about green products. It will become an essential starting point for anyone seeking information about green living. The EcoNexus data point display is what makes the Big Green Building unique, showing in transparency how renewable energy is transferred throughout the building. It can create a consistent and reliable stream of revenue, which sets us apart from other not-for-profits.
Unlike many internet search engines where the first results are from companies that are affiliated with or pay advertising costs to the search engine, leading to potentially biased information, EcoNexus will not accept manufacturers’ support. This will ensure unbiased information and reviews of goods and services without influence from suppliers. By avoiding manufacturer support, we lend additional credibility to the data that is made available.
There is no comprehensive source for this kind of information that is easily accessible to average consumers and small business. No source synthesizes vast amounts of this information into useful solutions utilizing combinations of products, services and techniques. Since this information is unavailable, parties are left to do the ground work themselves; a task which can prove to be prohibitively difficult and time-consuming.
